One of the greatest times of year is now upon us, when tennis, strawberries and cream align, and the world’s gaze rests upon the courts of Wimbledon.
This prestigious tournament takes place just about 30 minutes away from our opticians in Cobham, so one thing we know from our patients who go every year, is that they love to accentuate their look with a touch of true British style.
What better way to experience this than with much-loved British eyewear brand, Cutler and Gross?
History, Heritage, and Inspiration
Cutler and Gross was born in Knightsbridge, London in the late 1960s. As most businesses do, the brand started small, but thanks to its skill, innovation, and personal level of service, it soon began to flourish.
There’s no doubting the high quality of the raw materials like fine Italian acetate, technical specifications, and the attention to detail that goes into each and every pair of handmade Cutler & Gross glasses and sunglasses – but they also manage to tap into the zeitgeist that has artists, musicians, writers, and royalty coming back year after year.
Creation Process
Cutler and Gross glasses are built and finished to perfection in the Dolomites, Italy by some of the most experienced hands in the industry. Speed is definitely not the goal in this process – in fact, it’s quite the opposite.
There are 42 separate stages, followed meticulously over several months from start to finish when creating each Cutler & Gross frame. For example, glossy frames undergo a tumbling method in wooden barrels for 24 hours, and the act of polishing lasts a full 96 hours.
World Renowned
It’s not just rock stars and authors that have worn these glasses – they also featured in two markedly British films - Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. While the films are known for their gadgets and cars, it’s all held together with an authentic style that only Cutler and Gross could pull off.
If you want to look sharp while protecting your eyes from the sun’s rays this summer, why not invest in an iconic pair of Cutler and Gross sunglasses, or add to your everyday eyewear wardrobe with Cutler and Gross optical glasses?
Their shades are perfect for catching the action at Wimbledon’s centre court, strolling down the streets of Cobham for a spot of shopping, or lounging on a sun bed in the tropics, while their optical collection works as a statement accessory for date night, book club, or a day at the office.
Transform Yourself
We’re proud to stock this quintessentially British brand – both unique and independent, which reflects the very core of our opticians in Cobham. Feel free to get in touch to book an appointment for a complimentary Cutler & Gross frame styling consultation before your visit to Wimbledon this year.
